Assessment of lipolytic activities of bacteria isolated from palm oil processing cottage industries in Ekiti State, Nigeria

Palm oil industry is currently a world leader in the supply of oils and fats which constitutes one major sectors highest economic importance Nigeria. This study investigates lipolytic activity microorganisms isolated from palm processing cottage industries Ekiti State. Soil samples were taken depth 10 – 15 cm six different locations within State, Microorganisms effluents identified using standard microbiological techniques molecular characterization. The microbial isolates screened for lipase production modified mineral salt medium submerged fermentation. Lipase by was assessed halo zone clearance on nutrient agar plates after incubation at 37oC 24 hours. strains molecularly bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa AE016853.1; P. syringae CP019871.1 putida JQ782512.1. From this study, (P. aeruginosa, putida) selected sites display high potential production. produced exhibited lypolytic activities. POMEs could serve as source lipases commercial uses.
